These soy sauce eggs are an umami flavor explosion.

Soy Sauce Eggs are so easy to make, and the result is a salty, savory flavor bomb. When I made these, I couldn’t stop eating them. I almost didn’t have enough for the picture.


  • 6 Eggs
  • 3/4 cup Soy Sauce or Tamari
  • 1 cup Water
  • 4 garlic cloves, sliced
  • 1 inch Ginger root, sliced
  • 1 tbsp Rice vinegar
  • 1 tbsp Red Chili flakes
  • Sesame seeds for garnish


  1. Boil eggs for 8 minutes. Drain and place in an ice bath to stop cooking.
  2. In a medium saucepan, combine soy sauce or tamari, water, garlic, ginger, rice vinegar, and chili flakes. Bring to a boil and simmer for 5 minutes.
  3. Peel the eggs and place into marinade.
  4. Let sit for at least 1 hour.
  5. Slice and garnish with sesame seeds.
