Ingredients:

  • 1 medium red onion
  • 5 small cloves of garlic
  • 50g dried tomatoes
  • 1 chilli pepper
  • A bunch of mint
  • 400g ground beef
  • 2 tbsp Greek yogurt
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1/2 tsp cumin
  • 1 tsp smoked paprika
  • 1 tsp turmeric
  • 1 tbsp mayo
  • 1 lime
  • 2 tsp xylitol
  • A bunch of dill
  • Vegetable oil to cook
  • Your favorite hot sauce

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the meat addons. Very finely dice the onion, chilli and tomatoes. Mince the garlic. Chop the mint.
  2. Combine with the meat (but reserve 1 tbsp of diced onion, you will need it for the sauce), add 1 tbsp of the yogurt. Add the cumin, paprika, turmeric, salt and pepper. Mix well and let it sit in the fridge for at least an hour.
  3. Meanwhile, prepare the sauce. Mix 1 tbsp of Greek yogurt, 1 tbsp of onion, the mayo, juice of half a lime, xylitol, salt and pepper. Also finely chop the dill and add it to the sauce. Mix well and let the flavors combine for at least half an hour in the fridge.
  4. Form your ćevapi (60-80g seems to be a nice amount for me) and cook them with some vegetable oil. I fried them for 8 minutes, turning slightly a few times. This should form a nice crust all over the meat but still remain juicy inside.
  5. Plate it up by pouring some of our dill sauce over the ćevapi, adding a splash of your favorite sauce, and sprinkling some dill over them. Finish it with a few mint leaves and a touch of lime juice.
